ACT TO KEEP REDUCING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

A responsible event starts with a venue that is committed to sustainable development. That’s why Palexpo has opted for sustainability in the modernisation and transformation of its buildings.

EXTENSION OF THE CONFERENCE CENTRE SUSTAINABLE GREEN MATERIALS

Delivered at the end of November 2023, the extension of the conference centre was designed with materials chosen for their sustainability and low environmental impact: the wooden floor of slat edges is a solid, wear-free product by Bauwerk; the Duripanel chipboard panels are labelled “controlled and recommended building material” by the Institute Bauen und Umwelt e.V.: the ceilings are made of rPET 100% recycled and recyclable fibre; and the DALI lighting system allows significant savings in energy costs thanks to a movement detector coupled with a variation in light intensity that helps to optimise energy efficiency and reduce electricity costs.

A NEW SMART LIGHTING SYSTEM

The 580 old light fittings in halls 4 and 5 were replaced by 380 new LED models with the aim to reduce power consumption significantly and reduce Palexpo’s energy footprint while maintaining optimal lighting. The new lighting system has several advantages, such as: the possibility to create different scenarios depending on the specific needs of each trade show and/or different times of the day, and the implementation of a supervising system to control each light fitting individually. By choosing this LED system, Palexpo has reduced the average power of its light fittings by 40% and divided the electricity consumption of halls 4 and 5 by three, while maintaining optimal lighting quality throughout a work area of 30,000 square metres.
